Sue Cavanagh - environmental artist
My art practice involves exploring places from multiple perspectives. This includes considering forms and materials above and below the ground, as well as sensory elements informing our experience, such as the weather. Currently I am focusing on the material changes occurring in the landscape caused by expanding urbanisation and the increasing use of concrete.
​Drawing on my background in architectural and urban design practices, I am interested in how urban and natural environments interconnect with each other and the balance needed to create sustainable and healthy communities. Using both natural and industrial materials, my collages, wall panels and sculptural forms connect with these questions and link to immersive and assemblage art traditions.
